| The GCC construction boom is showing no sign of abating.
It is estimated that now 3,339 projects worth in excess of $2.8
trillion is underway in the region. This massive wave of projects
has turned the region into the world’s biggest market for plant,
construction machinery, vehicles and equipment, demand for
which is expected to grow by up to 20 percent over the next
few years. As more new airports, ports, mega resorts, theme
parks, residential and commercial cities and man-made islands
take shape, industry suppliers are cashing in and they will be
out in force at HeavyMax 2009 exhibition in Doha. Qatar is
firmly at the center of the dramatic regional construction
activity. There are currently 268 projects worth $205.627
billion underway in Qatar which has become one of the busiest
markets of heavy equipment in the world, while thousands
of cranes are capturing the skyline of the capital Doha. |
